Merge a Nuke Commander Update: Everything New

The Commander Update adds equippable commanders that boost your income, spawns, merges, and raids. Here is what changed and how to make the most of it.

Jun 25, 2026

The latest Friday patch dropped the Commander Update — the biggest change to Merge a Nuke's progression in a while. If you have logged in recently and seen a new Commanders button on the left of the screen, this is what it does.

Commander bonuses, rarities, and unlock costs below are community estimates and pending in-game verification. Exact numbers can change with future Friday patches.

What are commanders?

Commanders are equippable units that apply a passive bonus on top of your nukes. Instead of only stacking grid slots and merging, you now also pick a commander whose effect runs the whole time you play — including offline.

Most setups let you equip one commander at a time, so the choice matters.

Commander rarities

Commanders come in ascending rarities, and higher rarities carry bigger multipliers:

  • Common — small flat bonuses you unlock early.
  • Rare — a noticeable cash or spawn boost.
  • Epic — sizeable multipliers worth chasing mid-game.
  • Legendary — the strongest commanders and your late-game target.

The four effect types

  1. Cash multiplier — boosts cash/sec from every nuke. Best for AFK farming.
  2. Spawn boost — faster spawns, so you reach merge-ready duplicates sooner.
  3. Merge / luck boost — better merge odds or bonus drops.
  4. Raid boost — more raid damage or steal amount for active raiders.

Which commander should you pick?

For most players the answer is the highest-rarity cash-multiplier commander you can unlock. A cash multiplier scales every nuke on your grid, so it compounds your offline earnings more than any other effect.

If you are still early and want to climb fast, a spawn-boost commander gets you to mid-tier nukes quicker — then switch to a cash commander once you plateau.

How to unlock commanders faster

Redeem every active code for free cash and nukes, then put that currency toward rolling or unlocking higher-rarity commanders. Pair your best commander with an S-tier nuke from the tier list and check the commanders guide for the full breakdown.
